Apps like Typing Speed Test Master exist for one simple itch: you want to know your words per minute right now, without hunting through menus first. We stripped that idea down to its core and built Keystroke Sprint, a free typing test that runs right here in your browser. No install, no account, no ads between you and the result.
Play Keystroke Sprint now
Click into the passage box and start typing. The clock starts on your first keystroke.
How it works
Pick a round length of 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds, then start typing the passage shown. Correct characters turn dark as you go, mistakes flash red, and your live WPM and accuracy update with every keystroke. Backspace fixes errors the normal way, and those corrections count against your accuracy just like they would on a real keyboard test.
Everyone gets the same passage on a given day, so your run is a fair comparison against friends typing the same words. Your best WPM per round length and your daily streak live in your browser’s local storage, nothing is sent anywhere. When the timer hits zero, you see your final WPM, your accuracy, and how that run stacks up against your personal best. Tap “Try again” and you are back in within a second, same passage, clean slate.
How it compares to Typing Speed Test Master
Typing Speed Test Master goes considerably further than what we built. It tracks detailed history across sessions, breaks down finger-by-finger error patterns, offers dedicated lessons for building speed and accuracy over time, and works entirely offline once installed. It is built for someone who wants to methodically improve their typing over weeks, not just check a number.
Keystroke Sprint keeps the one piece that makes typing tests addictive in the first place: type fast, watch the number climb, try to beat your best. We dropped the lesson plans, the long-term progress charts, and the offline installer. There is no account, no history beyond your best score per round length, and no structured curriculum.
If you just want to know your WPM before a job application form asks for it, or you want a quick two-minute warm-up before real practice, this covers it. If you are serious about becoming a faster typist over months, the full app’s structured lessons will get you there faster than repeatedly running the same free passage.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the real Typing Speed Test Master?
No. Keystroke Sprint is an original typing test we built, inspired by the daily-practice idea behind Typing Speed Test Master. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Pratap Brothers or Typing Speed Test Master in any way. For lessons and long-term progress tracking, download the official app using the link above.
How is WPM calculated?
We use the standard formula: correct characters typed divided by 5, divided by the minutes elapsed. Dividing by 5 approximates the average word length, so the number lines up with what most typing tests report. Mistakes you leave uncorrected do not count toward your WPM, only characters that match the passage exactly.
Does everyone get the same passage?
Yes, on any given day. The daily text is generated from the date itself, so a typist in Manila and a typist in Toronto are racing through identical words. Restarting during the same day reuses that day’s passage so your retries are a fair comparison.
Is it free and does it work offline?
Yes to both. There is no signup and nothing to pay for. Once the page has loaded, the test is a single file with no outside requests, so it keeps working even if your connection drops mid-round. Your best scores and streak are saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. Tap into the passage box to bring up your keyboard and start typing. Round length buttons and every other control are sized for touch, and the layout adjusts down to small phone screens.
