Tip Calculator by Free Calculator Apps is the kind of app people install once, use at the table, and reach for again the next time the check arrives. That is a job a web page can do just as well without an install. So we built Tab Split, a free tip calculator that runs right here in your browser. Move a slider or tap a percentage and the tip, the total, and each person’s share update instantly.
Use Tab Split now
It opens with a working example already on screen: a $42.50 bill at a 20% tip. Drag the sliders, tap a quick percentage, or type your own bill amount to make it yours.
How to use it
Type the bill total into the field above the slider, or drag the slider to match it. Set the tip with the slider or tap one of the four quick buttons for 15%, 18%, 20%, or 25%. Use the plus and minus buttons to split the check between more people, and flip the round-up switch if you would rather pay a whole-dollar total than count exact change.
There is no calculate button, because there is nothing to wait for. Every change recomputes the total, the tip amount, and each person’s share live, and the bar underneath shows how much of the total is the bill versus the tip. Your last bill, tip percentage, and split are saved on your device, so they are already there next time you open the page. Nothing leaves your browser.
How it compares to Tip Calculator
Tab Split does one thing: turn a bill and a percentage into a tip, a total, and a per-person amount, fast, on anything with a browser. The full Tip Calculator app goes further. It remembers your preferred tip percentage between visits, supports multiple currencies and rounding modes, and keeps a history so you are not resetting your defaults every time you eat out.
We kept the core loop: adjust the bill and the tip, watch the total and the split move. We deliberately left out saved preferences, currency switching, and history, because a page you land on mid-search should settle the bill in a few seconds, not ask for a setup step first.
Our honest advice: use Tab Split for a quick, one-off calculation, especially when you are on someone else’s phone or do not want to install anything just to split a check. Install the app when you tip often enough that saving your default percentage and currency actually saves you time.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a tip?
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage to get the tip amount, then add that to the bill for the total. On a $42.50 bill at 20%, the tip is $8.50 and the total is $51.00. The calculator above runs this live as you move the slider or tap a quick percentage, in exact cents so the numbers never show rounding artifacts.
How do I split a bill between multiple people?
Tap the plus button next to the people count to add a person, or minus to remove one. Tab Split divides the total by that number and rounds each share to the nearest cent, so a bill that does not split evenly still shows a fair, exact-to-the-cent amount per person.
What does the round-up toggle do?
Turning it on rounds the total up to the next whole dollar and folds the extra into the tip, which is a common way to avoid counting coins when paying cash. Turn it off and the total is the exact bill plus tip with no rounding.
Is this tip calculator free and does it work offline?
Yes, completely free with no signup. Once the page has loaded, it keeps working without a connection, and your last bill, tip percentage, and split are saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only.
Is this the official Tip Calculator app?
No. Tab Split is an original tool we built, inspired by the quick-math problem Tip Calculator solves. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Free Calculator Apps. If you want saved preferences, currency options, and calculation history, get the official app from the stores above.
