How to use it
Zero Hour has two modes. “Countdown to a date” takes a name and a date and time, then counts down to that exact moment, no start button needed, it just runs. “Countdown for a duration” works like a kitchen timer: dial in hours, minutes, and seconds with the plus and minus steppers, and tapping “Add & start” begins counting down immediately, with pause, resume, and reset available underneath. Either way, the big digits at the top show days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining, adjusting to whichever units fit the countdown. When one hits zero, you get a chime and a flash on screen, and the status line switches to “Complete.” Add as many named countdowns as you want; they show up in the saved list below, where tapping one makes it active and the small x removes it. Everything, including your saved countdowns, mute preference, and any duration timer still running, is saved on your device only; nothing leaves your browser.
How it compares to Time Until
Zero Hour keeps the part of Time Until that people actually open the app for: a clean, accurate countdown to any date, plus a duration timer for the shorter stuff, both saved so you are not re-entering the same event every day. That covers the core loop in a tab, with zero setup.
What we left out is the app’s real reason to install: home-screen and lock-screen widgets that show the countdown without opening anything, custom backgrounds and photo galleries for each event, repeating countdowns for annual birthdays or monthly check-ins, and push notifications as an event gets close. Zero Hour only counts while the tab is open; it does not run in the background or notify you.

Yes. Zero Hour runs entirely client-side once the page loads, with no download and no account. It works the same on a phone, tablet, or desktop browser, and you can set it to count down to any date or run it as a plain duration timer.
Is this the official Time Until app?
No. Zero Hour is an original tool we built, inspired by the countdown feature inside Time Until: Countdowns, Widget by Bruno Schalch. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Time Until developer in any way. Does the countdown keep running if I close the tab?
The countdown itself is always computed from a fixed target time, so switching tabs or apps never throws it off; it will show the correct remaining time the moment you come back. Closing the tab stops the page from playing the completion chime while you are away, since nothing runs on a server, but reopening it recalculates everything correctly.
Is Zero Hour free?
Yes, completely. There is no signup, no download, and no usage cap on how many countdowns you save. Everything is stored in your browser’s local storage on your device, so your countdowns are still there the next time you open the page.
Can I save more than one countdown?
Yes. Add as many named countdowns as you like, mixing dates and duration timers. They all appear in the saved list, and tapping any of them makes it the active one shown in the big digit display.
